How It All Started
In Portugal 2016 at his brother in law’s wedding, Tom was invited to join the brother and his friends for a round of golf. Someone had dropped out and they had a space free.
Initially hesitant as he did not know any of the friends after some coaxing by his Mrs to get out and meet them, he decided to play his first round of golf.
The Royal Course at Vale Do Lobo, some might agree, not the easiest course for your first round. After being thoroughly spoilt by the Portuguese weather, the fantastic course and many lost balls, he was hooked. That evening round the pool he had found some clubs on eBay and was set to play more when they got home.
This was the start of his love affair with the sport and hardly a week has gone by since that he hasn’t picked up a club for some form of golf. Hundreds of rounds, thousands of YouTube videos and swing tweaks, lessons and late-night range sessions.
Fast forward many years and constant battles with the great British weather he was remembering a holiday to Tokyo and the sneaky session he managed to convince his Mrs to go to at a golf simulator. “If only there was something like that local to me”.
After googling and finding some simulator venues none of them offered exactly what he was looking for. A social venue to play full rounds of golf, a proper golf sim experience not just a tool for lessons or training, less than an hour’s drive away.
Knowing other golf addicts he thought “I can’t be the only one who would want to use something like this.” And the idea for Tees Golf Lounge was born.
